Presidential Also-Rans Forget their LinkedIn Profiles

Barack Obama’s fiercest rivals in the race to the White House have still not updated their LinkedIn profiles nearly one-year (51 weeks) since the historic inauguration of the 44th President of the United States.

Despite a fairly impressive new job title, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is still “Candidate at Hillary Clinton for President”:-

And if you were to believe their LinkedIn profiles, Republican Presidential nominee John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin are still in contention for the top jobs!

Senator McCain remains “Candidate for President of the United States at John McCain 2008″ and has been inviting his followers to read about something called the Lexington Project since June 25, 2008:-

Believe it or not, today – January 13, 2010 — Ms Palin is still “Vice Presidential Nominee at John McCain 2008″ and “Governor at  State of Alaska”:-

Congressman and former GOP candidate Ron Paul has updated his profile since he pulled out of the race, but Rudy Giuliani, another GOP wannabe, has not:-

I searched for the LinkedIn profiles of a few (but not all) of the other Presidential hopefuls. Some perhaps never had LinkedIn profiles, while other may have wisely shut them down.

Naturally winners don’t mind telling you about it. President Obama, who arguably made best use of social media during the campaign, has updated his job title:-

However, if you were to scroll down to the bottom of President Obama’s profile page, you will note that he is “not currently open to receiving Introductions or InMail”. He is a very busy man, after all.

What about Facebook, Twitter, My Space, and other social networking sites? Have politicians forgotten to update their profiles and to keep their supporters in the loop? Let me know in the comments below!
